The tangent of the loss angle is equal to the equivalent series resistance divided by the capacitive reactance.
Remark
(IEC 60418-3(III.9) (1976)): The rotor should be set at minimum and maximum positions for the tan delta test on variable capacitors. |IEC requires the voltage to be specified. |N.B. Reciprocal of tan delta is quality factor Q.
