1. The number of common electrodes or segments per group determines the multiplex ratio. When the number of segments is n and the multiplex ratio is M then the number of connections used is n/M + M against n + 1 for direct drive. |2. Multiplex drive is when several electrodes of the segments and those of the back-planes are connected together.
